We care about you and your success! Any student who is considering a leave or withdrawal should speak to the Dean of Academic Planning & Advising, Dean of Students, the enrollment specialist, an advisor, or other college employee before applying for the leave or withdrawal.
Occasionally, students may need to take off a semester or two because of personal circumstances (e.g., financial/family concerns, employment opportunities, travel, etc.). An approved leave of absence maintains your matriculated status during the leave period. Your leave may be granted for up to two semesters, and you will not need to apply for readmission to register for classes in your return semester.
If you are experiencing a medical issue, please follow the checklist here to request a medical leave of absence.
Your leave is effective the date that the completed, signed form is received at the Admissions Office. This effective date is used for calculating billing and refunds, and for assessing financial liability. Students can review the financial liability deadlines at the Student Accounts website.
Students who request a leave before the last day of classes are assigned W grades. Leaves are not granted after the last day to withdraw from courses.
Academic dismissal or disciplinary suspension will supersede any leave request.
If you do not plan to return from your leave, you will need to officially withdraw. Otherwise, you will be administratively withdrawn from the college and must submit a completed application for readmission to return to the college as a degree-seeking student.
